Getting Started with Your Homepage

The homepage is easily managed and supports custom layouts. Our guide for getting started is designed to help you set up your homepage. Let's get started!

1. CREATE GROUPS, LMS MODULES, DAM CATEGORIES, AND ASSETS

Before you begin setting up your homepage, you should set up your groups, as many homepage features can be shown based on group access. Though not required, it is helpful to populate your portal with at least one LMS module, create DAM categories, and upload several DAM assets before finalizing your homepage layout, so you can visualize how they will be displayed.

2. ACCESS THE HOMEPAGE EDITOR

To access the homepage editor, click the Edit Mode toggle in the top-right corner of the homepage. Once in edit mode, you can manage homepage layouts, add widgets, edit widgets, publish and unpublish widgets, reorder widgets, and delete widgets.

3. CUSTOMIZE YOUR HOMEPAGE LAYOUT SETTINGS

Customize the following homepage layout settings:

  • Page Title: The page title is for administrative use only and is not visible to non-admin users.
  • Group Access: Users in selected groups will be shown this page layout. If left empty, this layout will be available to all users.
  • Group Access Priority: If a user is in multiple groups and has access to more than one homepage layout (selected under Group Access), the lowest Group Access Priority will be shown to the user. Priority 1 is the highest priority.

To learn more about accessing and customizing homepage layout settings, visit the Adding and Managing Page Layouts article.

4. CREATE HOMEPAGE BANNERS

When your portal is created, the Banner widget is published by default. GZ Learn administrators can easily create and customize homepage banners with the homepage banner editor.

Branding Opportunity

  • When creating homepage banners, you can upload a background image to match your brand.
  • The homepage banner image size is 2248 pixels x 749 pixels. Preferred file types include JPEG and PNG.

5. ADD HEADER AND FOOTER WIDGETS

Customize your homepage layout by adding header and footer widgets. The GZ Learn portal offers six header and footer widget types:

  • Resume Progress widget: Displays the title of the last chapter the user accessed. The Resume button will take the user back to the previous page they visited.
  • Learning Progress widget: Displays a snapshot of the number of completed (enrolled) modules, completed courses, and percentage correct. The View All button takes the user to their detailed Learning Progress page.
  • News & Updates widget: Displays the most recent articles that have been added to the portal. The View All button takes the user to the News & Updates page. To learn more about adding News & Updates articles, visit the Manage News and Updates article.
  • Links widget: Displays customized cards that can link to internal or external URLs. To learn more about creating and adding custom link cards to your homepage, visit the Adding and Managing Homepage and Module Catalog Links article.
